SELECTED PROJECTS OF THE FACULTY OF EDUCATION:
Development of tactile – audit means and 3D models with auditory elements projects
The project goal was to use multisensorial aids to reduce the information deficit of people with visual impairment and to develop their spatial awareness. The goal was achieved by:
designing, developing and implementation of 3D auditive-tactile models of historic and ecclesiastical landmarks
research consisting of practical examination with the target group (people with visual impairment)
analyses of the results obtained in the research agenda, and conclusions implemented into practice
Development of independent movement through tactile-auditory aids (2018-2020)
The project was aiming to support people with visual impairment increasing the comfort of their independent movement. This aim was achieved by developing new-generation tactile maps with auditive aids linkable with smart mobile devices. The TouchIt3D tactile maps have been designed to be 3D-printable in multiple colours and to be connectable with a mobile phone or tablet via touchscreen. This approach has enabled multisensorial exploring of the surrounding area for people with visual impairment and compensates the information deficit they suffered from. The development was also linked with the education process performed according to the developed methodology as a crucial part of the whole implementation process.

Social workers, addiction specialists, psychologists, doctors and special educators, together with IT experts, have developed a new mobile application to help people in addiction treatment. The application is intended for both clients and therapists.
The mobile application is now intended for clients of the after-treatment program and Counseling Center for alcohol and other addictions in Olomouc's P-center. It is still being tested at other workplaces. It is used by both the therapist and the client, but it is primarily intended for clients. It is based on mindfulness, so the client educates himself through it and at the same time keeps a certain daily schedule in order to minimize the risks of the so-called cravings, i.e. cravings for an addictive substance.

Making Czech-Polish cooperation in the fight against cybercrime more effective
This project was implemented by a team consisting of representatives of 8 police directorates from the Czech Republic and Poland and experts from the Palacky University in Olomouc. As the name of the project already suggests, the project focuses primarily on new ways of combating internet crime, namely through streamlining the work of the police (in the Czech Republic and Poland), supporting prevention aimed at children, educators and parents, as well as supporting counseling activities enabling anonymous assistance to victims of internet crime. The project also included research activities that enabled the detection of new forms of cyber threats with which online users are in contact.
The project had two main goals:
1. To create a common communication network in the supported area (Czech-Polish border), which will enable the rapid transfer of information across borders.
2. Deepen cooperation with the public through various outreach activities (prevention, intervention, research)
